Coachella: New ways of use IT in concerts

By Dayris Martinez and Gabriela Vega

I personally love Coachella, I mean is everybody dreams to go there! and if is not you shouldn't read this article at all... Who doesn't love girls with flowers and good music?... and if that is not good reason to love this festival as much as I do, look of what Coachella is doing in order to make these experience even better.

(From Google)

Yes, you guessed right! They are using IT tools to do that, amazing right? From interactive live-streaming to customised experience apps... They really seem to know what they are doing, Coachella is known for its amazing digital marketing strategy. (More that 4 million fest related tweets and shared almost 1/2 million of photos) Woow and not satisfied with that they were navigating with an interactive map on youtube using their festival app channel.

"Technology is allowing festivals, artists and creators in general to connect even deeper with their audiences" says Matt McLernon, Youtube's communications manager. For the past five years, YouTube has live streamed the festival, with a 99,000 daily viewers could catch performances via three festivals channels.

"Coachella may be the longest-running live-streamed festival on YouTube, but many major festivals are now streaming their sets — and they’re no longer sticking to just one platform."

So if they want to survive Coachella has to think of new Technologic tools to have an added value, which is what they recently did with having partnerships with TeePublic and other companies, so they still have a long way to go in these new ways of use technology in music festivals, but we should not have any doubt that they will do.

Instagram Takes Over The Grammy Awards.

By Gabriela Vega and Dayris Martinez.

As we know the social media is an important part of our lives, especially for our generation which literally can´t live without it.

Instagram is clearly one of the most popular social media and in my case my favourite, specially now that I am so into the insta stories, I mean is amazing to be able to see what your favourite blogger, singer, actor or even your friends are doing.

Taking that in consideration and knowing that The Grammy Awards are one of the most important events, Instagram planned to span from the red carpet to the backstage and some of the music's biggest parties, which brought many fans along to witness everything that was happening behind scenes.

For sure it is not the first time that one social media company use this type of strategy, I mean If we look at the stories of snapchat, they also use major events to promote the app, like for example if you were in the Brazil Carnival you can uploaded your snapchats and then they will show the best ones at a global scale.

It makes me think that this clearly is a trend and if it worked for them then when we plan an event we can totally use this strategy, bringing together people that maybe weren't able to come to the event with still can be part of it. I think that really creates engagement and even can help you the next time, because you as a consumer if you have a little taste and you like it, you will really want to experience by yourself next time.

Experiences Airbnb, more than just a place to stay.

By Gabriela Vega and Dayris Martinez

Another reason to love Airbnb, now you can also reserve dances parties in Havana and historical tours around any city in the world.

I personally love Airbnb, I have only had really good experiences using the app. I have even found my house through them and I couldn't be happier.

But it is not only about accommodation anymore, as the way the word is constantly changing also companies have to change in order to survive in the market and Airbnb is not the exception.

It is true that this company changed the way we see traveling and became a strong rival for hotels but not happy with that they went beyond its core business to become a fuller service travel agency.

This amazing company introduce what they called "Trips" which provide tours, activities and other experiences, as well as events. This new service helps tourists immerse in the local community, since the activities and experiences are created and provided by locals.  Right now it is only available in 12 cities but hopefully they will expand to more.

They came with this idea because they were having some problems with the regulations in some countries because in some of them renting a house for a short time is illegal so this allows people to make extra money in a way that might be less controversial than the short-term rental and make the company go deeper into the travel and event market.

“We show people around the way we’d show a friend. JC. Rodriguez  a former artist in Miami who offers a two-day experience which allows visitors meeting with local artists and create their own pieces said.

I think that is the added value of what Airbnb offers and what make them so unique and a so successful because in the end it doesn’t matter if it’s tourism or events, all it is about to bring the best experience to your customer.

This is a good example of what happen if you have a good understanding of the power of IT in your business whether is tourism or events.
