Tom Mullen introduces a new mobile app
developed by Italian winemakers. According to Mullen, the idea for the app
came, when the winemakers recognized three big problems of their businesses.
Firstly, they noticed that they had been too focused on vines on their
promoting rather than promoting widely everything to see and do in the region.
Second, recommendations offered to tourists were very biasing and favoring some
entrepreneurs more than others. Lastly, what was a problem was the navigation
to the site.
A group of people started mapping routes
and adding pit stops together, and so Percorsi (‘Journey’) was born. Percorsi
combines navigation, photos, attractions and vine bars and restaurants into one
app, all within Abruzzo, Italy, Mullen explains. According to Valentina Di
Camillo of Tenuta I Fauri winery the region is not known. We think the app is
an excellent way to promote the region and to get more tourists there to spend
money. Mullen also writes about the user having a possibility to choose from
existing routes, or create his own based on one’s personal interests (sea,
culture, hiking etc.). We think this adds on the value that the app has to
offer and it makes it more customized on the customer’s preferences, which is
always excellent.
We think, that with the right promotion
and visibility, the app can do great things for both the entrepreneurs of the
site, but also the tourists discovering a new, exciting region offering so much
entertainment for every taste. Road trips are always great experiences, and
sometimes it can get very difficult to try to plan the route in a way, that you
can really see and do the things you enjoy. And adding the vine bars and
restaurants, the tourist can get a very authentic and special experience.
