The impact of Artificial Intelligence on the tourism sector

Artificial intelligence is intelligence demonstrated by machines, in contrast to the natural intelligence displayed by humans and other animals. In computer science AI research is defined as the study of “intelligent agents”: any device that perceives its environment and takes actions that maximize its change of successfully achieving its goals. Colloquially, the term “artificial intelligence” is applied when a machine mimics “cognitive” functions that humans associate with other human minds, such as ”learning” and “problem solving”.(Wikipedia)

This article introduces the application of artificial intelligence on tourism industry and points out some problems. There is no doubt that artificial intelligence can take over some tasks and release human from the boring working routine. To some extent, this can optimize the utilization of human force and make the company to develop efficiently. And also, artificial intelligence can provide large amount of data to the company. Based on this, the company can improve its digital marketing strategies and offer private services and product to their clients. For tourism industry, there are some different type of travelers who have different purpose and needs of travel. Artificial Intelligence is not a technique that provide the same type of tourists the similar    experience during the travelling. It do provide the customization according to the travelers’ behavior, preference, and daily routine. In this case, it can enable the whole industry to keep their clients‘ loyalty.

However, there are also some challenges during the application process. Until now, the robot can’t replace our human beings. Although artificial intelligence is clever and don’t make mistakes in general, it can’t think like human being and it can’t recognize the clients’ emotion process. Personally, although the advance of technology is rapid, the face-to-face communication is very crucial for commercial process.
