With the development of digital content and the new trends of customers’ usage habit, MICE industries become more and more intelligent by computer and mobile technology.
During the ITB Berlin event, the event planner used their official app to provide participants (trade visitors and public visitors) lots of self-service.
Public Transport:
Before the event, participants could plan their visiting plan by collecting the information from ITB app. Then they could better schedule their time and route to make their duration more efficient. For example, I am a Chinese tourism operator in China, and I want to get more potential destination information in west Europe, especially in Spanish. Firstly, I can check on the app if there is a shuttle bus around my accommodation, and then check the hall numbers about west Europe and Spanish. So I could take the shuttle bus from my hotel and I can even organize duration in different operator’s stage.
Inside Transport:
ITB Berlin has 3 lines mini shuttle buses within the convention center. Beside, you can use the app as an inside GPS to show you the way from A to B. The app also provides a 3D map of whole buildings for visitors to make an efficient visit.
Hall Information:
The participants could use the app to gather different halls information and convention details. Since an exhibition like ITB Berlin has great numbers of exhibitors and workshops, in terms of personnel demand, visitors could organize their route according to the time and hall information by the app.
The Network
Events and conventions’ followers
By the app, both visitors and exhibitors could find who have followed which halls or events. So potential participant could prepare their network before their exchange their business card, this function will provide an efficient network between participants.
All in all, the app and mobile technology will simplify the work of event planners and participants in different aspects. So it is a necessary trend we have to consider when we are plan or organize an event. The participants and exhibitors almost adapted to this new trend, so we’d better collaborate with IT suppliers to provide useful and sustainable apps to offer an easier and acceptable self-service.
