New trends Emerging at Hotels / Estelle and Yuqi

Tourism Industry is constantly in expansion and travellers are having more expectations concerning the technology services. The 21st century offers new trends such as the digitalisation in the hotels. Indeed, in the next few years and step by step it will be digitally changed. Nowadays, people are more and more connected to their mobile, computer or tablet devices and according to this new trend it is important to be on the same wavelength of this upcoming generation. 
The Hospitality market is very competitive and more and more focusing on "Digital touchpoints". It is a way to engage customers in many operations and deliver a great customer experience.

The Hotels are sensitive to the hi-technology and new digital trends. The Silent Travelers are the reason why hotel had to reconsider their system and being able to adapt the infrastructure to this new generation of people constantly connected to the network. They are considered as the "mobile-first" travel consumer because they do not only use their phones for receiving or giving calls or text messages. Indeed,  when travelling they stay in contact with family or friends, solve problems with it...In a global manner, they do everything with.  These people are considered as mobile dependant that's why the Hotel Industry has to interact with this phenomenon and getting ready with the future.
Thanks to that, new fascinating trends are emerging.
First of all, they are called the Digital kiosks that look like a tablet and they are arranged most of the time in the lobbies and give an interactive activity to the customer. It provides many services such as hotel material, check-ins, information about the environment that they can download as a PDF file.



Secondly in Vienna, the Ruby Hotel uses the In-Room Digital Outlets. It is a digital experience via tablet computer that help the guest for using the virtual concierge, online surfing, check-in and check-out in persona, arrange for online daily newspapers for example; this is a very service guest's attention.
Thirdly, Starwood Hotels and Resorts recently implemented the Smartphone Room Keys which allow guests to open their room by scanning the smartphone directly on the automatic lock door. Moreover, they can get a notification when their room is cleaned and ready.
Lastly, the Marriott incorporated the Interactive Social Hubs that is an interactive digital screen via an application called Six Degrees and it allows people to have real-time discussion with others individuals staying at the same place. Their profile is identified thanks to Linkedin and brings the possibility to meet others guests during business travels.

In our time,  the digitalisation of the Hotel Industry is something necessary because almost everyone is connected on Internet. More and more people are looking for an easy and convenience stay, so these practical services help them to be comfortable. In a general way, these new trends are giving benefits for each type of travellers. It is a generation that evolves with the technology and it would not be smart, especially in large chain hotels to not take advantage of these advantages that are clearly profitable to the hotel guests.
