Sli.do is a web-based platform, which is
for attendees to ask live questions and vote in live polls via their phones,
tablets or computers. There are three main views: Audience View, Presentation
View and Admin View. The audience view function, which allows attendees to enter a unique #code of the event to join
in. In the startup room, anyone can easily ask questions anonymously or with
their names. Then, any incoming question can be moderated before appearing
live. This is so-called admin view. Participants can vote up the questions they
like the most to ask. Approved questions and live poll results can be displayed
live via presentation view.
The web-based platform is indeed easy to
use. As there are so many high-tech apps being used in conferences, to download
an app is inconvenient especially when you need to attend different meetings
using different apps. Moreover, sli.do does offer additional features to pay
for like Agenda, Slidesharing or Networking, which can be seen as an affordable
alternative to some of the more expensive mobile apps.
Additionally, asking questions via the
interface is an efficient way to involve introverted audience. Since that
participants can vote for the most interesting questions to be asked to
speakers through presentation view, repeated questions are avoided and people
with no questions are engaged as well.
Another enticing feature is that attendees
can download presentation through the link offered on the brief overview of
agenda.
However, Sli.do needs venues with wifi
working. And it only provides basic function for free. More amazing features
like moderation needs to be paid. If you are holding an internal corporate
events needing more privacy, or you are holding medium or larger events, which
require custom branding, unlimited polls or using sli.do simultaneously in
multiple rooms, you need to pay for it. Basic function is ideal only for small informal
events.
In conclusion, Sli.do is a strong competitor
for those event apps, it simplifies the communication process between speakers
and attendees effectively, and making the whole event in the control, bringing more convenient
to the different kinds of events.
