Phil the Voyager

Phil the Voyager is the version-v of ExClone Inc. technology.

You may wonder what an ex-clone is? Well it is a talking agent (computer) that takes the role of a real person that has knowledge in a certain sector and/or specific skills. In this case, Phil the Voyager is a travel guide. Users can chat with Phil and he will help them discover travel spots around the world, through pictures, discriptions, videos etc. A famous example of an Ex-Clone? Siri! The voice that talks to you through your Apple products.

This type of service is evolving because it seems to be more efficient than general searches. According to Tatiana Rokou from Travel Daily News, search inhibits efficiency, using only a single query at a time, whereas Chat is dynamic, poignant, compelling and personal.

Example:

Search: Where can I go in the Caribbean and the Bahamas?
Chat: I like sandy beaches, an island environment, and a small authentic town where I can snorkel. I prefer to be close to some historical sites. It should be convenient for family travel although I wouldn't mind some bars too. I enjoy spicy Thai food. My kids love dolphins, and a dolphin sanctuary close by would be ideal. I prefer the Bahamas and the Caribbean. Where should I go?

ExClone Inc. already has 2 ExClones of its own: Phil the Voyager and Michael the Famous People Guru. This company is specialized in helping enterprises create their own ExClones for a number of reasons like using it for after-sales services, therefore saving labor costs, humanizing products, improving the quality of conversations and much more.

This new type of search engine can also learn from the user. The tourist can share his experience in a destination, it will be kept in mind by Phil the Voyager for future references. We live in a world where machines need to learn and adapt and these ExClones are trying to do just that.

Further, problems such as finding a product, solving a technical problem or identifying the cause of an issue can be found in all sectors, not only tourism. ExClones can be adapted to any industry.

For now, Phil the Voyager is being tested. Actually, only Facebook users have access to him, for a limited amount of time. Afterwhich, he will be launched commercially later this year.
