The 20 best social media campaigns

From the Forbes Magazine article entitled
“The Best-Ever Social Media Campaigns”
http://www.slideshare.net/paliosaratoga/the-20-best-social-media-campaigns

Click on the link above to discover what has been the inspiration behind so many copy-cat marketing efforts. This list of social media campaigns highlights the creative effort that’s needed to stand out on the web… many a first of their kind. Moreover, these campaigns are entertaining, rather than informative. And a common thematic throughout these crowd-pleasers is that they’re interactive.

What’s interesting is that this article speaks not only of the successful campaigns but also goes on to evaluate and critique ideas that have flopped while giving kudos to those that achieved award-winning success. It also talks of social media as a component of a grander marketing effort, incorporating other complimentary facets such as TV, radio, billboards, and online ads.

It goes without saying that social media networks are where it’s at right now, and it will continue to be this way for some time to come. As quoted by Steve Rubel of Edelman Digital, “Expect to see Facebook and some of the other social media platforms begin to say, ‘Look, come to us and do your innovation here – less so on your own site – because we have the numbers.”

Whether you’re sending primate-themed e-cards or participating in an online graffiti contest, these campaigns are contagious; and thus, the virus of viral marketing spreads. Beneath this epidemic, strategies are achieved: creating awareness, driving sales, influencing consumer behavior, an identity change, or simply creating buzz. Views, hits, clicks, tags… it’s all about the numbers… and as long as these innovative ideas continue to engage, we’ll be here to actively take part.
