In-flight wifi : stay connected even in the skies.

A technology called Gogo has already succeeded in providing wifi access in air from 10000 feets to 30000 feets everywhere in the United States.

Business travelers spend sometimes more time in the air than on the ground. The possibility to keep checking their emails and working during the flight would enable them to save a lot of time and maybe a lot of money.

How does Gogo work?

Like many revolutionary ideas the idea of Gogo is a simple one. Consider using a mobile phone in the car: as you move your phone switches cell towers to maintain the best possible signal. Gogo has taken the same concept and turned it upside down. Using mobile broadband cell tower on the ground, Gogo has built an uninterrupted network in the sky through the entire continental United States.

Gogo Ground To Orbit new technology offers peak speeds of 60 Mbps or more to aircraft flying throughout North America.

Gogo is already working with many airline companies such as American Airlines, Delta, Air Canada, US Airways, etc. It brings the total to more than 6,000 Gogo equipped aircraft to date.

This new technology is certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and its utilization in air is safe.

Unfortunately this technology is not free at all. For instance, an unlimited monthly access costs $60. A business traveler must flight a lot to get value for the money.

Anyway, the technology is interesting and could be opened to competitors and would lead to better prices.
