ITB Berlin expands its floor area for over
230 travel technology exhibitors from 15 countries
The World’s Leading
Travel Trade Show will occur between the 7th and the 11th of March in Berlin.
This year, ITB puts the emphasis on the travel technologies. Indeed more than
230 exhibitors from 15 distinct countries are registered at the trade show.
This reflects the soaring development and importance of Travel Technologies in
the Global Travel Industry nowadays and in the future. Visitors will have the
opportunity to get in touch with different technologies such as the event features
back office technology, hotel software and reservation machines and also social
media, travel portal and mobile travel solutions. The unprecedented exhibitors’
implication points up the necessity of being aware of IT trends in travelling
both for travellers and professionals. We cannot deny that today IT is a significant motor
in this industry as it represents a continuous source of innovation and
improvement. Indeed Travel technologies not only ensure better professional
tools but also offer new products and services enhancing customers travel
experiences.
Travel Technology trends in 2012
In 2012, travel
technology is going to evolve. To underline these evolutions, ITB Berlin Trade
Show will present some of these major new trends.
We noticed that the main
evolution concerns the m-tourism that is why ITB will focus on the development
of mobile travel application: the apps. Besides, several technical terms as
Social Review Management or the evolution of hotel review portals and
user-generated content will be tackled. Two new kinds of Internet search will
be implemented at ITB to complete the current ways to search. Indeed, a mix of semantic and sensorial search
will be tested by the participants: “natural
language search, automatic evaluation of search queries based on language
expressions” and “whereby facial expressions and gestures are interpreted in
order to incorporate the searcher’s emotions in a presentation of the
findings.”
Nevertheless, on the long-term, these
new trends represent a challenge as the travel industry will have to face
significant IT and networking costs.
