Enhance your event with gamification

Gamification has become the new hype trend since social media have emerged. It is now more and more used by companies to promote their brand or products. Because of the soar of the use of IT and mobile apps in events, gamification is within range of a new kind of interaction and entertainment for attendees.
Gamification applies to non-games processes and activities to drive desired behavior. It can encourage people to perform chores they usually consider as boring, such as filling surveys, shopping, or reading websites. It provokes interest, enhances experience, improves learning process and encourages networking. As it speaks directly to people’s competitive nature, it pushes them to get involved and win.
According to the set objectives, gamification can highly improve events and lived experiences. It can increase sessions attendance, enhance networking and improve social interaction. Most of all, it brings fun! Apps are appearing and becoming more and more visible; iBeacon technology is often used for this kind of activity:  scavenger hunt is the most popular example. The app and the game need to be user-friendly so that participants understand very easily how it works without any help needed. The game can propose several challenges to achieve, such as checking to a certain number of sessions, completing surveys, collecting business cards, visiting exhibitors or tweeting. Of course, in any game, there is a winner and he/she must be rewarded. The prize can either be virtual or physical. Even if the prize is not big, people love to win anyway. If they do not win, at least they would have tried and will remember the game, and obviously the event too.
Gamification is becoming a more and more interesting solution to make the “passive attendee” disappear by engaging everyone. Attendees do not only enjoy the experience anymore, but actually make it happen and participate to the whole interaction. An appropriate and easy game, specially designed for your event, can distinguish your event from others. A high satisfaction thanks to an unforgettable experience creates successful and memorable events.
