TravelPony.com: Let’s ride!

TravelPony.com is a brand new hotel booking website created in 2013. The concept is simple: Register with your Facebook ID and get the best rates available: between 10 and 70% below the big travel sites!

The question is: How is it possible?

TravelPony relies on their customer to advertise the website through word of mouth. Indeed, when you book your hotel you just have to click a button and your deals appears on your Facebook page. TravelPony is riding on the social media wave to get free marketing and international recognition. How many friends will see your post and say “It’s the best price I’ve never seen!”?

The site is creating a real relation of trust with the customers. Indeed, if you find a deal, they ask if you’d like to tell your friends via Twitter, Facebook, or LinkedIn. If you don’t want to share, they allow you to check a box reading “I promise to tell my friends about this amazing deal.” Indeed, it’s in your interest: more your share, more you’ll get low prices.

For the moment hotels available on the website are from 24 cities: 22 US cities, London, and Paris. They are from mid-range to luxury hotels, and the customer can book 6 months in advance at a maximum. However it is not only allowing last minut reservations and the client will get the best rates every day.

Conclusion

This social way of booking reaches already 20 markets with over 2,000 top hotel partners, making it one of the best sites to get a deal and book a hotel room… And it’s a beginning.

We choose to talk about this website because it is an innovative way to find deals on the internet, which will compete with kayak.com, booking.com and others online booking portals. This engine has been tested by other travel-bloggers and they all agree to say that it a quick, easy to use website, based on a fair relationship between the actors.

Secretearth.com: Discover – Plan – Book

Nowadays, every traveler knows the opportunities offered by internet to choose the right destination, the right facilities, at the right place and at the right price. Independent travelers are more and more interested in booking and organizing a personalized trip, far away of the all-inclusive packages offered by most of the tour operators and travel agencies.

After the success of recommendation sites as tripadvisor.com, and the indisputable rise of price comparison sites as booking.com, secretearth.com gathers those two concepts on a new travel website. Most of all, this new platform is offering the trip planning service, which is currently totally unique on the web 2.0.

The process, organized in 3 phases, is very simple:

Discover
Thousands of hand-picked recommendations from top travel writers, and the search and filtering tools to help you find what you want fast.

Plan
Simple-to-use planning tools allow you to collect your ideas, plan your itinerary, and print a customized trip guide to take with you.

Book
Booking recommendations and real-time price comparisons to make your self-tailored trip a reality.

With already 100 destination guides, 1,300 activities and attractions, 550 hotels, and 650 restaurants and bars all around the world, the website is combining quality content, trip planning and price comparison tools, all in one place.

Thanks to this mix of services, secretearth.com currently suffers no competition on the internet. Indeed, the site is the closest to a specialist service as a travel agency… With this advantage: the customer is totally free to search, organize and book his “perfect trip”. He is the only one actor in booking his trip. With this competitive advantage, Matthew Roach and John Kat, the two co-founders, are surfing on the wave of the “prosumer” (producer + consumer) trend: let the consumer decide and build his own product is the best way to guaranty an entire satisfaction.

Last but not least, the services are totally free! No commissions, only independent recommendations and advices for tours, tickets, agents and operators, but also a “World’s best list” for discovering the world's greatest travel experiences.

Be careful: it is members only and you must be invited by another member to join! But there is a good news: during the Beta phase early adopters are allowed to join. So if you want to discover this promising concept, hurry up!
